First cheat: Super Mario Galaxy for Wii:
There's something incredibly alluring about the Pokemon franchise. For a series that hasn't changed a whole lot since its initial release in Japan in 1996, it still draws millions of gamers to it with each subsequent release, and for good reason. Pokemon Platinum continues a tradition that started with Pokemon Yellow back in 1999 -- it is, in essence, a supplement to Pokemon Diamond and Pearl (much like Yellow was for Red and Blue), remaining essentially the same game as the games that preceded it, but with minor changes that, in the end, make the game harder.
In Pokemon Platinum, you'll travel back to Sinnoh, and the storyline remains largely the same as it was in Diamond/Pearl, with some differences, both minor and significant, that make the game different. Even if you've played Diamond or Pearl, Platinum is a game worth going back to. In fact, Pokemon veterans will find plenty to do with their old cartridges, since certain Pokemon can only be captured when games from the past in the Pokemon series are connected to the GBA slot on your DS. Pretty nifty.
Our guide will help you get from the beginning of the game to end, with detailed information outlining each step you take in the game. Every trainer you encounter in the game is outlined, with the specific Pokemon he or she will bring to battle. No item is missed, no area left unexplored, and no rock left unturned. Our walkthrough is about as complete as it will get. We also have an extensive side quests section that will outline adventures in the game that you don't have to undertake to finish your quest, but that are worth doing nonetheless. Our Pokedex, perhaps the biggest part of our guide, covers each and every Pokemon found on the Sinnoh Pokedex. And finally, our extensive Appendices section covers all of the in-game items, lists, Poketch applications, and even a document outlining some of the differences between Diamond/Pearl and Platinum.
So grab your favorite Pokemon and head into that tall grass. It's time to catch 'em all!
In this Pokemon Platinum strategy guide, you'll find:
- BASICS // The fundmentals of being a Pokemon Trainer, succinctly covered.
- WALKTHROUGH // We'll hold your hand during your journey through Sinnoh.
- SIDE QUESTS // What's an RPG without optional adventures?
- POKEDEX // Each and every Pokemon appearing in Platinum can be found here.
- APPENDICES // Items, lists, changes from D/P, and more.
Unlockable: National Pokedex
First, you must complete the Sinnoh Pokedex (spot each of the 210 regional Pokemon). After that, talk to Professor Rowan in his lab and he'll give you the National Pokedex.
Unlockable: Pichu, Pikachu, or Raichu With Volt Tackle
Go to the trophy garden in the Pokemon mansion and catch two pikachus; make sure one of them has a light ball when you catch them. Then go to Solaceon town and give the pikachus to the day care lady. Talk to the man outside the day care center and he will give you an egg. When the egg cracks open a pichu with volt tackle comes out. Note: If you want a female pichu give the light ball to the male and if you want a male give it to the female.
Unlockable: Villa Furniture
Perform the actions below to unlock additional furniture for the Villa.
- Chandelier - Move a total of 300,000 steps
- Great Painting - Hatch 30 Eggs
- Guest Set - Beat a total of 50 trainers in the trainer cafe

Hint: New Pokemon for the Sinnoh Pokedex
A total of 58 Pokemon have been added to the Sinnoh Pokedex:
There is a new person to battle every day in the Pokemon Center in Hearthome City. These challengers are located next to the counter; take them on for easy Exp.
Every Pokemon Center you come across in your journey will feature a similar character to battle.
After you beat you game, go back to sendoff spring. Cynthia will have left so you can enter the cave she was blocking. Enter Turnback cave just like in Diamond / Pearl. At the end you find an item and the entrance to the Distortion world. Go through it to find the Griseous orb. It's like the Adamant orb for Giratina. If you give it to Giratina, it can stay in its origin form outside the Distortion World. If you didn't catch Giratina in the Distortion World, you can catch it in Turnback cave.
To catch the legendary pokemon dialga and palkia, you must first beat the Elite Four and acquire the National Pokedex. Head to Mt. Coronet and scale it to the top where Team Galactic was. One of the two legendary pokemon will be there. Catch it or beat it then leave and return and the other should be there.
Before taking them on, you'll need specific orbs. To get these, make your way to Mt. Coronet through Hearthome City as if going to Sky Pillar. After progressing through about 3 caves, a new entrance will be available and inside are the orbs required to battle Palkia and Dialga.
Hint: Hidden Machine Locations
Below are the locations of the 8 Hidden Machines.
- HM01 (Cut) - As you come back from the pokemon statue in Eterne City (on the northeast side), a trainer named Cynthia will give it to you
- HM02 (Fly) - Found in an Item Ball in the Galactic Warehouse (Veilstone City)
- HM03 (Surf) - The Elder of Celestic Town gives it to you after you beat Cyrus (in the ruins)
- HM04 (Strength - Riley gives this one to you at Iron Island's cave entrance
- HM05 (Defog) - Inside an Item Ball in the heart of Solaceon Ruins
- HM06 (Rock Smash) - A hiker gives it to you as you go through Oreburgh Gate
- HM07 (Waterfall) - After beating Volkner, Jasmine (of the Johto Region) gives it to you on Sunyshore Beach
- HM08 (Rock Climb) - Inside an Item Ball behind a cabin on the left side of Route 217
You can win stars for your Trainer Card by completing the following tasks:
- Beat the Elite Four
- Collect all of the Battle Frontier Colored Plates
- Capture 50 flags in the Underground
- Win a Master Rank Super Contest
- Capture all 493 pokemon (excluding event-only pokemon)
Each star will change the color of your Trainer Card as follows:
- Blue - Earn One Star
- Bronze - Earn Two Stars
- Gold - Earn Four Stars
- Silver - Earn Three Stars
- Black - Earn Five Stars
Before attempting to catch Regigas, you must first obtain Regirock, Regice and Registeel (from previous Pokemon titles -- Emerald, Sapphire, Ruby, Leafgreen, or Firered).
If you have those, head to Snowpoint City and walk directly north from the gym. At the temple there will be a woman blocking the entrance. Candice will tell the lady that it's ok for you to go in provided you have the three Regi- pokemon. Enter the temple and go to the bottom floor to find Regigas.
Hint: Adding Manaphe to Your Pokedex
In the Pokemon Mansion, go to Mister Backlot's room and look at the book on the table. You'll see a picture of Manaphy. After looking at it, it will be added as "Seen" in your Pokedex.
Hint: Unlimited Rival Battles
After defeating the Elite Four, head to the Fight Area. Go to the Survival Area and speak to Buck. Complete the Stark Mt. mission and make your way back to the Survival Area. There is a house that was locked that once said "Exclusive Members Only;" your rival is there. Go there on weekends and your rival will challenge you to a battle. The more you challenge the Elite Four, the stronger he will become.
Hint: Catching Roaming Legendaries
Use a Repel (or Super or Max Repel) in the marked location of a roaming Legendary pokemon to clear out extraneous pokemon. This makes finding the Legendary pokemon much easier since it will be the only one that will attack.
Hint: Capturing Legendary Pokemon without Master Balls or AR
Remember to save before battle. Use a pokemon that knows Paralysis. Use a Quick Ball, then keep spamming Paralysis until the Legendary pokemon is affected. After this, use weak attacks until its life is reduced. Use Great Balls to capture the weakened pokemon.
Just outside the Wayward Cave, look under the bridge to find a secret entrance. The areas is full of pokemon and contains three pokeballs.
Hint: Finding Shiny Pokemon
If you put both an international pokemon and one of your own in the daycare, your chances of finding a shiny are lowered from 1/8932 to 1/2000. This may sound high but you'll definitely notice a difference.
After beating the Elite Four and Stark Mt., go to the mansion south of Hearthrome. The owner of the mansion, in the office, will refer to pokemon in his garden. After a scuffle with the butler, you can go into the garden and catch the pokemon he referred to. Use a Quick Ball for an easy catch. You can do this every day for a new pokemon!
Hint: Quick-Farming Pokemon
Go to the mansion and save your game. Talk to Mr. Backlot and he'll tell you what type of pokemon is in the garden that day. Go capture it -OR- if it is not what you were looking for, turn the power off, restart the game and talk to him again. Repeat until you find what you are looking for. You won't have to wait a whole day until you capture one!
Pokemon in the garden:
- Mime Jr.
Easter Egg: Birthday Message
To see a special birthday message, play the game on the birthday you entered (you can fiddle with your DS clock settings to switch the date if you are impatient) after beating the Elite Four. When you talk to Dawn or Lucas, they will make a reference to your birthday.
You can use Pokemon with the Cut ability to cut the tall grass you encounter in your quest. Just use the ability when you are near a patch of tall grass.
Enter Snow Point City on January 12 to see snow fall. This is the birthday of Game Freak Director Junichi Masuda.

Mario Kart DS Unlockable: Alternate Ending Screen
You must complete all the classes with gold trophies on all cups, which includes mirror mode.
Mario Kart DS Hint: Blue Shell Block
First place racers can shoot a bomb backwards just before a blue shell hits to stop it from scoring a hit.
Mario Kart DS Hint: Burst Start
Hold A just after the two begins to disappear for an advantageous start.
Mario Kart DS Hint: Shroom Packing Time Trials
Any kart that has a full statistics meter in the items category will have 3 mushrooms in time trials.
Mario Kart DS Hint - Snaking/Drifting
Snaking will help you win races by a long shot. To snake is basically powerslide. Mastering snaking can be tricky. To powerslide, press R button while turning either way and shifting the D-Pad left and right at a medium speed until your sparks on your Kart turn red. It usually takes only four left/right/left/right/ motions to get a powerslide, depending on your speed. Once you master the speed of how you powerslide, you can start to snake. This will mostly help you get three star ranking on your Grand Prix races. You can also use this method online, which many users do. (Including myself) To snake, powerslide a certain direction. After that, either hop or turn sharply the other way and do another powerslide. Do this for most of the race, and depending on the track, you can win it easily rather than those that do not snake. Hope this helps anyone! I've taught this to many friends and now they are really good at Mario Kart DS, and it's fun to snake!
Mario Kart DS Hint - DK Pass and Yoshi CircuitDK Pass
... When you see the ice to the right of you when you're racing, get ready. Near the end of the ice, to the left, there's a hill with some trees. Climb up the hill with a play that goes moderatley fast over snow and grass and all that (I usually use Dry Bones with his Standard DB), and on the very tip of the hill is an item box. Even if you're in first place, this item box will give you either 3 mushroom boosts or a star! Yoshi Circuit
... Where the hand of Yoshi is you can see that there is grass leading to a pit of water. Because of that you'll have to drive around the 'hand'. Well, if you have Dry Bones Stanard Kart again, you can jump across the gaps. Drive in to the grass, and press the drifting button right when you're on the edge, and if you've done it right you should land on the other side of the track. Unlike the DK Pass cheat, this doesn't work with most karts. Try to find one that works! You casn also use mushroom boosts with any kart to go through.
Submitted by Dry Bones (cinnamoncookie)
Mario Kart DS Hint: Block Shells
To block red and green shells from scoring a hit on your vehicle, try to hold a banana peel, a red shell, or a green shell of your own behind your go-kart. This will block any shell from hitting you, so you can continue the race unhindered.
Mario Kart DS Hint: Last Place Item Trick
This is a strange maneuver but worthwhile to try. When you start any given race, allow yourself to fall into last place. Then, grab an item. Because of your last place status, the game will give you an exponentially higher probability of grabbing a great item (like a Star, Bullet Bill, et cetera). Then, work your way past the last place players until you’re in third or fourth place and use your good item to make your way towards first place.

Wii Sports Unlockable: Special Bowling Ball
You must achieve pro level on the bowling game.
Wii Sports Unlockable: Tennis court
At the warning screen after selecting characters, hold down 2.
Wii Sports Unlockable: Silver Boxing Gloves
After you've beaten Matt, the Grand Champion, you'll unlock the silver gloves. Hold 1 when the screen fades to black before a boxing match to don them.
Wii Sports Hint - Barrier Strike
For the 'Power Throws' training game in bowling, turn either left or right until there are four red bars pointing in the direction of your choice across the bowling line. This may not always work, especially with the big numbers of pins but this will almost always give you a strike. Feel free to experiment with different numbers of red bars across the bowling line since three and four almost always work for me.
Wii Sports Hint - 91 Strike
In the "Power Throws" training game for bowling, you might notice 2 red buttons at the end of the alley - 1 left and 1 right. When you get to the final bowl for 91 pins, you can bowl the ball along the top of the barrier on either side and hit this button.
Move your Mii all the way to the left or right, and turn the aim 2 or 3 clicks towards the barrier. Let go of the ball at the highest point possible, with just a bit of spin to keep the ball on the barrier.
If successful, you will hear a click, the screen will shake and all the pins will fall down.
Wii Sports Mii Parade
You can add more Miis in Parade and audiences. Use Wii Sports to do it:
1. Make about 10 Mii's.
2. Transfer those Mii's to your Wiimote.
3. Delete the Mii's that are transfered to the Wiimote out of the plaza.
4. Start up Wii Sports.
5 When given the option of which Mii to use during gameplay choose the option to get the Mii from the Wii Remote.
6. After viewing the Mii's on the Wiimote back out by using the B button.
7. Exit out of Wii Sports and back onto the Wii Menu.
Now check the Mii parade and all 10 of the Miis that were on the Wiimote are in the parade. Now if you dont want the Miis on the Wiimote just delete them off. These Miis will now show up in all Wii Sports games that have an audience.
Wii Sports Bowling Ball Color Change
You can select your bowling ball color before you bowl by using the directional pad. When you reach the screen warning, 'Make sure nothing is around you', hit the A button and hold the D-pad (until the alley UI appears) to choose your color:
UP = blue
LEFT = red
DOWN = green
RIGHT = yellow
Wii Sports Hint - Tennis Pro Tips
When playing tennis and building your skill level, you can quickly gain skill points by setting it up so that your Mii is both players on a single side. After orienting yourself to this type of gameplay (it takes some coordination), you will notice that your wins will earn you 40+ skill points each time - basically double what you would have gotten if you had played with the computer on your side.
To do this trick: When you select which type of game to play, "Single Game", "Best of 3", or "Best of 5", it shows you which players are at which locations on the court. Your Mii's default position is the left side server. On the same side, use the A Button and click on the figure standing at the net. It will change from the "?" shadow to your Mii (assuming you are playing alone). Then proceed to pick which duration of tennis you'd like to play.
Note that you should ensure that you win, otherwise you may be at risk to lose double the amount of skill points if you lose.
Wii Sports Hint - Baseball A.I. Exploit
The more skill points you accumulate, the harder it will be to beat the game A.I.
In order to get the pitcher for the A.I. to throw almost everything across the plate, you need to wear them out.
Take as many pitches as you can, working deep into each count. This trick doesn't guarentee a win, but I have yet to get negative points.
When you see the pitcher begin to sweat, an exlamation point will appear over the pitcher's head when a pitch is about to be thrown.
That means its coming right across the plate at 74 MPH. perfect home run ball if you hit the ball correctly. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Wii Sports Hint: Disable Map and Meters for Golf
Hold 2 while choosing your course to disable the map and wind meter.
Wii Sports Hint: Power Serve
To do a "power serve," press A and wait for the ball to reach the highest point in the air and then strike with the Wii Remote.
